"All we had to do, was follow the damn train, CJ!" – Big Smoke
Wrong Side of the Tracks is one of the most meme-worthy and notoriously frustrating early storyline missions given by Big Smoke in Unity Station, Los Santos. The objective is to drive a Sanchez dirt bike alongside a moving train while Big Smoke shoots four Vagos gang members riding on top of the train roof.
Why Do Most Players Fail?
The primary reason players fail is riding too close to the train engine. When CJ drives right next to the train tracks, Big Smoke's shooting trajectory is blocked by the side of the train cars, causing all his bullets to hit metal instead of the gang members.
Strategy 1: The Proper Riding Line (Standard Way)
- Keep a distance of at least 6 to 8 feet wide to the right side of the outer track.
- Match your motorcycle's speed to the train so Big Smoke is aligned directly parallel with the front Vagos member.
- Avoid hitting oncoming passenger trains or cars on the railroad bridges by staying on the dirt path.
- When entering the tunnel, stay to the far right wall. Big Smoke will finish off the remaining targets before reaching San Fierro territory.
Strategy 2: The Train Roof Shortcut (Instant Win)
- Drive fast ahead of the train right after passing the first bridge.
- Look for the dirt hill/ramp near the archway on the left side of the tracks.
- Drive up the ramp at full speed and jump CJ's motorcycle directly onto the roof of the train.
- Dismount the bike and shoot all 4 Vagos gang members yourself using an SMG, AK-47, or Shotgun!
